SHEWORKS
Slow Fashion. Heritage Craft. Honest Commerce.
We Are Not a Fashion Brand.
We Are a Preservation Movement.
SHEWORKS was founded on a singular conviction: that the most radical thing a brand can do today is slow down.
In an industry built on speed, volume, and disposability, we chose the opposite. We chose the loom over the machine. The hand over the algorithm. The artisan over the assembly line. Four years ago, we began a quiet but deliberate mission — to keep Pakistan's most endangered textile traditions not only alive, but relevant, dignified, and dressed in the language of the contemporary world.
Today, SHEWORKS stands as one of the few fashion labels in South Asia operating at the true intersection of heritage craft, ethical commerce, and zero-carbon production.
We believe clothing is not a product. It is a record of human knowledge — stitched, woven, dyed, and passed from one generation to the next. When a craft disappears, that record is erased forever.
Every decision we make — from the fibres we source to the wages we pay — is guided by one question:
Does this honour the hands that made it?
If the answer is no, we do not do it.
SHEWORKS operates through a direct artisan partnership model that is fundamentally different from how the fashion industry typically functions.
We do not place orders through middlemen. We do not impose price points on communities. We travel to the source — to the weaving villages, the block-printing workshops, the embroidery households — and we build long-term relationships rooted in mutual respect and transparency.
After each product sampling, artisans set their own wages. This is non-negotiable. It is the foundation upon which everything else is built.
The textiles and techniques at SHEWORKS are not aesthetic choices. They are living histories.
And there are more of them than most people know exist.
Handloom & Khadi Weaving — Each metre of fabric represents 40 to 60 hours at the loom. No shortcuts. No synthetic blends disguised as natural fibres.
Ajrak Resist-Dyeing — A 5,000-year-old technique requiring 16 to 21 days of resist application, natural dyeing, sun-drying, and washing. Every piece is unique. None can be exactly replicated.
Rilli Patchwork — A centuries-old Sindhi quilting tradition, geometric in precision, meditative in process, and irreplaceable in its cultural memory.
Mukaish & Zardozi Embroidery — Hand-stitched copper and gold threadwork requiring between 200 and 1,200 hours per garment. The kind of work that machines will never convincingly replicate.
Block Printing — Hand-carved wooden blocks, natural pigments, and the steady hand of a craftsperson who has trained for decades. Each print carries the slight, beautiful imperfection that only human hands can create.
And this is only the beginning.
At SHEWORKS, we are actively preserving 43 distinct hand stitches — each one a language of its own, each one at risk of being lost to time. Alongside these, we work across multiple craft disciplines spanning weaving traditions, dyeing systems, embroidery schools, and patchwork lineages rooted in different regions, communities, and centuries of South Asian textile heritage.
Some of these crafts have never been commercially available before. Some exist today in the hands of only a handful of living artisans. Some are so intricate, so time-intensive, and so deeply regional that the wider world has simply never encountered them.
We are documenting them. Reviving them. And bringing them to you — one piece at a time.
This section of our story is still being written — because the work of preservation never truly ends. As we deepen our artisan partnerships and expand our craft communities, new techniques, new stitches, and new stories will continue to find their way to SHEWORKS. Return here, and there will always be something you have not yet seen.
43 stitches. Multiple crafts. One store. And a commitment to ensure none of it disappears.
Slow fashion is, by its nature, responsible fashion — but we hold ourselves to specific, measurable standards.
A conventionally manufactured garment produces between 7 and 15 kilograms of CO₂. A SHEWORKS garment produces less than 0.1 kilograms.
This is not the result of carbon offsetting schemes or sustainability marketing. It is the direct consequence of how we work — by hand, without industrial machinery, using natural fibres, organic dyes, and zero-waste production methods embedded in traditional craft processes that have always been sustainable, long before sustainability became a trend.
We do not claim perfection. We claim honesty.
SHEWORKS is not for everyone — and we mean that with the greatest respect.
Our garments are designed for those who have moved beyond fashion as a reflex and arrived at clothing as a considered choice. We work with international mature fashion designers who understand the value of authentic textile sourcing, and with university fashion students who are learning to build a different kind of industry — one that asks more of itself.
If you are looking for fast, cheap, or trend-driven, we are not the right brand for you.
If you are looking for something that will outlast every trend you have ever followed, made by hands that have spent a lifetime mastering their craft — you are exactly who we make for.
M. Shoaib
SHEWORKS
Shoaib did not set out to build a fashion brand. He set out to solve a problem: how do you make ancient craft economically viable in a modern world without compromising its integrity?
The answer became SHEWORKS.
Over four years, he has built a network of direct artisan relationships across Pakistan — from the looms of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the ajrak workshops of Sindh — establishing a brand model where craft communities are not suppliers to be managed, but partners to be respected. His work sits at the centre of a growing global conversation about what ethical fashion truly means when stripped of its marketing language.

Every garment we release is a commitment — to the artisan who made it, to the customer who wears it, and to the tradition that inspired it.
We do not overproduce. We do not discount to clear stock. We do not compromise on materials, process, or people to meet a price point.
What we offer instead is something increasingly rare in fashion: complete transparency, genuine craft, and clothing made with the kind of care that you can feel the moment you hold it.
SHEWORKS. Slow by design. Honest by principle.
